Event details
The Long Run is a loop-based trail event at Jacobsburg State Park with spring and fall editions. The spring edition, called Spring Forward, uses the original course run counter clockwise. The event offers multiple entry options: a single lap 5 mile event and timed efforts where participants complete as many loops as possible within set time limits. Participants select one event at registration. A lap counts only if completed before the event time cutoff.
Course and support
The course is roughly a 5 mile loop combining single track and gravel trails with about 450 ft of elevation change. The start and finish are at the Jacobsburg State Park Equestrian Parking Lot near the Sobers Run trailhead. The event is cupless and self-supported: participants must provide their own hydration and fueling. Coolers of water will be available to refill bottles between laps or before/after the event. Competitors in timed events may use a bin or bucket under 30 gallons for their supplies; these are placed near the start/finish. There is no limit on crew or day-of support, and the event is spectator friendly.
Environment and community
The event is organized as a zero carbon event with an additional $1 fee to offset participant travel emissions. Organizers collect monetary donations for the Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center and are collecting items for a local animal welfare center; blankets are noted as especially useful.
