About the race
Fields of Gold Trail Run takes place at Shaffer Bend Recreation Area in Marble Falls, Texas on October 30, 2027. The event uses rolling hills, meadow trails and lakeside paths and offers multiple looped formats that showcase fall color.
Distances and formats include:
- No set distance : Last One Standing Gauntlet format
- 12‑Hour Endurance : distance by miles covered
- 50K (31.1 mi)
- Marathon (26.2 mi)
- Half‑Marathon (13.1 mi)
- Half‑Marathon Ruck (13.1 mi, loaded)
- 10K (6.2 mi)
- 5K (3.1 mi)
- Exceptional Athlete division : 5K, 10K, Half, Marathon with adapted course options
Courses are run as repeating loops for easier crew access and drop bag support. Aid stations and staffed checkpoints are provided; every participant must check in at the start and finish of each loop and at manned aid stations so loops and mileage are recorded. The Gauntlet format requires completing each loop within the hour; runners must be inside the corral when the bell rings and support rules prohibit personal pacing during a yard. Ruckers follow specific requirements including a dry minimum pack weight (20 lb if under 150 lb; 30 lb if 150 lb or over) with pre‑race weighing and a post‑race check.
Night running requires a headlamp and a backup light, reflective clothing, personal hydration and a phone for emergency communication. Finisher items include a harvest themed medal and a race shirt; post‑race harvest food and celebration are part of the event. Several races count toward the Rio Colorado 250 series.
