Fields of Gold Trail Run : Shaffer Bend Recreation Area
Fields of Gold Trail Run is a multi-distance trail event held at Shaffer Bend Recreation Area in Marble Falls, Texas. The routes run through rolling hills, meadow trails, wooded sections, and lakeside paths timed to coincide with peak autumn color.
Distances and timed formats include:
- 50K ultramarathon
- Marathon 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles
- 12 Hour endurance challenge with total miles scored
- 10K trail run
- 5K family friendly run
- 60 minute Golden Hour challenge on a 4 mile out and back course
Course highlights include panoramic overlooks, meadow fields of native grasses, wooded trails with water features, and a Homestead finish area oriented to the late afternoon light. Aid stations are provided along the courses and feature seasonal items such as apple cider, pumpkin cookie bites, and warming beverages. All participants receive a harvest themed finisher medal and a race shirt, and there is a post race celebration.
Night running safety requirements are specified for after dark participation and include a headlamp with fresh batteries, a backup light source, reflective clothing or vest, a personal hydration system, and a cell phone for emergency communication. The event is organized by Fit Foundation volunteers and net proceeds support HKRS Cedar Park youth running programs.
