Event overview
The Famous Grouse Fell Race is scheduled for Sunday 30 November 2025 in Birch Vale, New Mills, Derbyshire, in the Peak District. The course is a short Peak District fell race covering 8.4 km / 5.2 miles with 335 m / 1099 ft of climb. The race follows the original route starting from the bottom of Moorlands Road. It is for adult runners only - age 18 and over - and entry is limited to a maximum of 125 runners. The event holds a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA.
Entry and logistics
Entry is on the day only; fees are £4.00 for FRA members and £5.00 for non-members. Registration takes place at The Sycamore Inn on Sycamore Road in Birch Vale, which is about a 10 minute walk from the race start. There is parking at the pub but spaces are shared with other users; participants are asked to avoid parking on Sycamore Road. There is no mandatory kit list, though runners are advised to equip themselves sensibly for a fell race in November. Results and prize giving are held at the pub after the race.
