Famous Grouse Fell Race
The Famous Grouse Fell Race is a short Peak District fell race held on the last Sunday in November in Birch Vale, New Mills, Derbyshire. The event follows the original route, starting from the bottom of Moorlands Road, and uses The Sycamore Inn for registration and post-race results and prize giving; the pub is about a ten minute walk from the start.
The course covers 8.4 km / 5.2 miles with a climb of 335 m / 1099 ft. Entry is on the day only, with separate fees for FRA members and non-members, and the event is restricted to participants aged 18 and over. The field is limited to 125 runners.
There is no mandatory kit, but participants are asked to equip themselves sensibly for a fell race in Derbyshire in November. Parking is available at the pub but may be shared with other users; competitors are asked to avoid parking on Sycamore Road.
