Famous Grouse Fell Race

The Famous Grouse Fell Race is a short fell running event held in Birch Vale, New Mills, Derbyshire. The race takes place on the last Sunday in November and follows an established course through the Peak District. The event features a single distance for participants:

  • 8.4 km with 335 meters of elevation gain

The competition is restricted to runners aged 18 and over, with a maximum capacity of 125 participants. The route follows the original path starting from the bottom of Moorlands Road. Although there is no mandatory kit required by the organizers, participants are advised to equip themselves appropriately for the weather conditions in Derbyshire during late November.

Registration is conducted at the Sycamore Inn on the morning of the event. The start of the race is located approximately a 10-minute walk from this registration point. Entry is available on the day only, with specific pricing structures for both FRA members and non-members.

Parking is available at the pub venue, though it is shared with other patrons. Results and the prize-giving ceremony are held at the Sycamore Inn following the conclusion of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
