Event Overview
The Families of FANA 5K is a running and walking event held at Como Lake Park in Lancaster, NY. It features a timed 5K run and a non-timed 1 Mile fun walk. The event supports a non-profit organization network of families connected through adoption from the FANA orphanage in Bogotá, Colombia.

Course & Location
The 5K uses a USATF-certified course (NY24007JJ) that starts and finishes at the Como Lake Park Casino. The 1 Mile walk follows a separate course but starts at the same location and time.
Registration & Fees
Online registration is available until the race start. Race day registration and packet pickup occur at the casino from 11:00 AM. A virtual participation option is offered, where participants can complete their run or walk between May 1 and June 1, 2026, and receive a hat by mail.
Fees are tiered:
- 5K Run: $25 for adults (18+) until March 31, then $30; $10 for youth (17 & under) until March 31, then $15.
- 1 Mile Walk: $15 for adults (18+) until March 31, then $20; $10 for youth (6-17) until March 31, then $15. Children 5 and under are free.
- Virtual Option: $35 (includes hat shipping).
Participant Perks
All registered participants aged 6 and older receive a custom baseball-style running hat. Light Colombian food and snacks are provided after the race.
Awards
Medals are awarded to the top overall male and female 5K runners. Custom age group medals are given to the first-place male and female finishers in various age categories, from 9 and under to 80 and older.
Other Information
Free parking is available at Como Lake Park near the casino and finish line. The event uses professional electronic RFID timing.
