Fall Running Series - Peninsula, OH
The Fall Running Series is a sequence of five weekly themed trail races held in Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Tuesday evenings across late September and October. Each event takes place at a different park location and covers a distance of 3 to 5 miles. Events are scheduled at Pine Hollow, Howe Meadow, Kendall Lake, Oak Hill, and Camp Butler. Events run regardless of weather.
Series participants receive event swag that includes Feetures socks, a Nathan strobe light, and a finisher medal; individual race entrants will select items from a grab bag. Donations collected for the series benefit the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park. For the Camp Butler event, organizers have permission to allow participants to run or hike with dogs.
The series uses scored standings. Participation in any race automatically enters a runner into the series. The first four races are counted toward series points; the fifth race is timed but does not count in series scoring. Overall scoring by gender uses a base of 50 points for first place, with decreasing points thereafter; age group scoring by gender uses a base of 10 points for first place, with the highest four age group scores summed for placement. Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards. Top three finishers are recognized overall and within age groups. Age groups are organized in five-year increments from 14 and under up to 70 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
