Fall Running Series - Peninsula, OH
The Fall Running Series is a set of five weekly themed trail races held on Tuesday evenings at locations within Cuyahoga Valley National Park between September 29 and October 27. Each event is between 3 and 5 miles and is held at a different location in the park, including Pine Hollow, Howe Meadow, Kendall Lake, Oak Hill, and Camp Butler in Peninsula, OH. Events proceed regardless of weather.
Series participation includes a set of series swag items and a grab bag of items for individual race participants. Series swag listed for participants includes Feetures socks, a Nathan strobe light, and a finisher medal, with an additional item to be determined. Donations associated with the series benefit the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Scoring uses both overall and age group systems. The first four races are counted for series points while the fifth race is timed but not included in series points. Overall scoring uses a base of 50 points for first place descending by one point per place; age group scoring uses a base of 10 points for first place descending by one point per place. Awards recognize the top three overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female finishers in five year age groups from 14 and under up to 70 and over. A participant guide is provided for race day details. Dogs are allowed for the fifth event at Camp Butler with special permission. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
