Head For The Hills
Head For The Hills is a community event held at Forest Ridge Preserve and the Lang Pavilion in the Chagrin River valley in Moreland Hills, Ohio. The event includes a scenic out and back 5K run along Chagrin River Road and a 1.5 mile self-guided hike on the preserve trails, passing hills, ravines, and streams.
- 5K Run - 3.1 miles, MyLaps BibTag chip timed
- 1.5 Mile Hike - 1.5 miles, self-guided through Forest Ridge trails
Registration fees support the non-profit Moreland Hills Parks Commission. Fee levels listed for registrants are $30 for the 5K and $30 for the hike, with reduced fees of $15 for children ages 6–15; children age 5 and under may participate free without receiving the giveaway. Proceeds have been used for trail resurfacing, new benches, picnic table repairs, landscaping at Moreland Hills Veterans Park, and other park improvements.
Participants registered by September 20 receive a commemorative Head For The Hills shirt. The 5K awards overall male and female winners with Fleet Feet gift cards and awards to top finishers in standard age groups. Event services include on-site care from NovaCare Rehabilitation for warm ups, taping, and recovery, and food service from the Donut NV food truck. Dogs are not allowed at the event.
