Head For The Hills - Forest Ridge Preserve
Head For The Hills takes place October 3, 2026, at Forest Ridge Preserve and the Lang Pavilion in the Chagrin River valley in Moreland Hills, Ohio. The event is an annual fundraiser whose registration fees and donations benefit the Moreland Hills Parks Commission. Recent and planned uses of proceeds include trail resurfacing, installation of benches, picnic table repair, and landscaping improvements at Moreland Hills Veterans Park.
Event options include the following distances:
- 5K (3.1 Miles) scenic out and back on Chagrin River Road
- 1.5 Mile Hike self guided hike through Forest Ridge trails
The 5K is a chip timed road course using MyLaps BibTag and features gently rolling hills and early fall foliage. The 1.5 mile route traverses wooded hills, ravines, and streams and can be done at an individual pace. Registrations carry fees: 5K $30.00 with a reduced fee for ages 6 to 15; 1.5 mile hike $30.00 with a reduced fee for ages 6 to 15; children age 5 and under may participate free without event giveaway. Registrants who register by September 15 receive a commemorative event shirt. The event also includes awards for 5K overall and age group finishers, on site care from NovaCare Rehabilitation, and family activities and crafts.
