Towpath Marathon
The Towpath Marathon is a fall running event that begins in Canal Basin Park on the east bank of The Flats in downtown Cleveland and continues along the Towpath Trail. The route follows the trail corridor as it moves away from the central city.
Distances offered include:
- Marathon (certified for Boston qualification)
- Half marathon
- 10K
The course passes several local landmarks, including Camp Cleveland and the Towpath Mounds, and provides views of the Cuyahoga River Valley and the downtown skyline. Virtual race options are available for participants who cannot attend in person.
The event is connected to the Towpath Trilogy series and to Canalway Partners. All Towpath Trilogy races benefit the non-profit Canalway Partners. Participation supports the development of the Towpath Trail, Canal Basin Park, and other projects within the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area.
