About the race
The Fall Foliage event offers road races at Acredale Community Park in College Park with two distance options:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The course follows a shaded, paved path through the park. It is an out and back route described as fairly flat; the 10 km distance is two laps of the 5 km route.
Participants receive a finisher's medal, a technical (DriFit) event shirt, and the race is chip timed. Water stations are provided along the course: one station on the 5 km route and three stations on the 10 km course, with approximate mile markers noted by the organizer; Gatorade is available at some stations. Portable restrooms are located in the park. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered, though shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for late registrants. T shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before Sept 23.
The event offers a virtual race option. Live results are posted on Athlinks with a QR code available at the event; final results with series points are published the Monday after the race. Runner tracking via SMS is available through the registration system.
This event awards the top three men and women overall and age group places in standard decade categories. It awards points toward the organizer's Year-Long 5k and 10k series, the Back of the Pack series, and the Fall Series. The race supports Hope For Horses, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on rescuing and retraining off the track thoroughbreds and educating the public about horse care.
Parking is available at Acredale Community Park, 4200 Metzerott Rd., College Park, MD. The organizer notes the event runs in most weather conditions; officials may delay or cancel for safety.
