Fall Backyard Burn Trail Run - Laurel Hill
This trail running event is scheduled for Sunday October 4, 2026 at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia. The course runs through about 1,600 acres of former prison grounds south of the Capital Beltway and passes forested singletrack and open meadow sections.
Most of the route is singletrack on a mix of dirt and crushed stone. There are only short pavement sections at the beginning and end. The course has no extended climbs but features many short ups and downs.

- 5.4 miles (one lap)
- 10 miles (two laps)
Elevation gain is listed as 350 feet for the 5.4 mile option and 700 feet for the 10 mile option. Registration fees vary by registration period: the 5 mile ranges from $45 to $60 and the 10 mile ranges from $55 to $67.50. Registration includes race operations, volunteer support, aid stations, medical support, post-race food, music, awards, giveaways, and race swag. Finish medals are an optional add-on.
A kids race day program is offered through Little Fern Learning; it requires pre-registration and carries a separate fee. Key race rules include no in-ear headphones, no pets, no pacers, no strollers, visible race numbers, outside assistance only near aid stations, and staying on designated trails.
