Course and location
The race starts and finishes at the Workhouse Arts Center, 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton, VA 22079, on grounds that were formerly the Lorton Reformatory. The course runs through about 1,600 acres of former prison grounds and combines forested and open meadow singletrack. One lap measures about 5.4 miles; the longer option is two laps (about 10 miles). Most of the route is singletrack composed of dirt and crushed stone, with short pavement sections at the beginning and end. The course has no extended climbs but includes many short ups and downs.
