The Fall Backyard Burn Trail Run - Laurel Hill is set for Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Lorton, VA at the Workhouse Arts Center. The event is produced by EX2 Adventures and offers trail running options of:
- 5.4 miles (one lap)
- 10 miles (two laps)
The race staging area is at the Workhouse Arts Center, located on the former Lorton Reformatory grounds.
Course, services, and rules
The course runs through forested and open meadow singletrack across about 1600 acres of the former prison grounds. Most trail is singletrack composed of dirt and crushed stone. There are short paved sections near the beginning and end. Elevation gain is listed as 350 feet for the 5.4-mile lap and about 700 feet for the two-lap option. The start and finish are under the old guard towers at the Workhouse Arts Center.
Registration includes race operations, aid stations, medical support, post-race food, and event swag. Race medals are available as an optional add-on; series finishers may receive a special medal. During registration, participants can support the local non-profit Homestretch. Course rules note no in-ear headphones, no pets or pacers, no strollers, visible race numbers, and a requirement to stay on designated trails.
