Event Overview
The F^3 Cap Sauers Trail Marathon & 10 Mile takes place at Teason’s Woods in the Sag Valley Trail system. The event features two distinct distances held on wide horse trails. Due to the nature of the location, participants may encounter horses on the course. Both routes consist primarily of non-technical terrain, though the course includes significant elevation changes for the region. The 10 mile course features 670 feet of elevation, while the marathon course includes 1,050 feet of elevation.
The available distances include:
- Marathon
- 10 Mile
Course Details
The marathon course structure consists of two full circuits of the 10-mile loop followed by a final 10k out-and-back section. Because the route utilizes out-and-back segments, there is consistent two-way runner traffic. Various aid stations are positioned at turnaround points throughout the course. These stations provide water and electrolyte drinks, while specific locations also offer food items such as pickles, pringles, and gels. Permanent restrooms are available at the east and west ends of the course.
Participant Information
All participants receive a sunflower-themed t-shirt and a wooden sunflower finisher medal. Marathon finishers are also eligible for finisher hats. Packet pick-up is conducted exclusively on the morning of the event at the Teason’s Woods picnic shelter. Following the race, a post-run gathering is held featuring chili and beer in the shelter area. Parking at the primary site is limited to 50 cars, and carpooling is encouraged. Alternative parking options are located at nearby forest preserve lots, including Saganashkee Slough - East, Swallow Cliff, or Cherry Hill Woods.
