Blue Bridges 5K - Blue Island, IL
Blue Bridges 5K is a community run/walk held on September 19, 2026, in Blue Island, Illinois. The event features a 5K route that starts at the historic Guildhaus property on Canal Street, follows the Calumet Saganashkee Channel (Cal-Sag), passes neighborhood streets toward Fay’s Point Marina, and returns to the Guildhaus where a local market fair takes place.
The Guildhaus is a residential men's halfway house established in 1987 that provides recovery support for people with substance use disorder. Funds raised by the event will be used to open a women's treatment center and to expand services on the Guildhaus campus.
Event logistics include a race lead on a bicycle for runners and walkers, distance markers every half mile, a water station at the halfway point, beverages provided before the race, and color-coded paper cups for water and sports drink. A complimentary gear check is available for participants. The event is chip-timed using RFID bib chips that must be worn on the front of the torso.
Race rules state no bikes, skates, or scooters; strollers and wheelchairs are permitted and will start with walkers. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers, and an overall winner will receive a prize. Packet pick up details are to be announced; the listed pickup location is 13307 Olde Western Ave, Blue Island, IL 60406. Parking for the 5K will be managed with volunteers under the Western Ave bridge off Broadway Road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
