Blue Bridges 5K
The Blue Bridges 5K is a community run and walk on September 19, 2026 in Blue Island, Illinois. The 5K route begins at the Guildhaus property on historic Canal Street, runs east along the Calumet Saganashkee Channel (Cal Sag), passes through Blue Island neighborhoods toward Fay’s Point Marina, and finishes back at the Guildhaus where a local market fair will take place. Kids and families are welcome and a race lead will ride a bike for runners and walkers.
Event logistics include pre-race beverages and a water station at the halfway point using orange paper cups for water and purple paper cups for sports drink. A complimentary gear check is available. Distance markers are placed at every half mile. Timing is electronic; the race uses RFID bib chips that must be worn on the front of the torso.
Race rules state no bikes, skates, or scooters. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted and will start with the walkers. Awards will be given to first, second, and third place finishers by gender and an overall winner will receive a prize. Event day parking is available at the public lot at 13357 Old Western Ave.
Packet pickup dates are September 12 (12:00 PM–4:00 PM) and September 16–18 (9:00 AM–8:00 PM) at 13307 Olde Western Ave, Blue Island. Day of event pickup is available.
Proceeds will be used to open a women's treatment center as part of Guildhaus efforts to expand services for people with substance use disorder. There are no refunds; if the event is canceled registrants will receive notification with rescheduling information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
