Evergreen Pumpkin Run
The Evergreen Pumpkin Run is a seasonal road race that routinely sells out each year. It benefits the Jacksonville Historical Society and the Evergreen Cemetery Association. The event offers two certified distances.
- 10 Mile (USATF cert FL20021JK) official Jacksonville Grand Prix event
- 5K (USATF cert FL20020JK) 13 and under Jacksonville Grand Prix scoring in the 5K
Both courses run through oak and magnolia trees and are about 90 percent shaded. Large stretches of the courses are lined with pumpkins; the 5K is lined for the entire route and the cemetery portion of the 10 mile is lined as well. All miles and turns are marked and digital clocks are placed at most miles. The 10 mile has a three hour time limit. Parking is available both inside and outside the cemetery.
Participants receive a long sleeve technical race shirt and finisher medals for both the 10 mile and 5K. Awards for the 10 mile include prize money for the top three overall men and women and a masters prize; age group awards are presented for standard age brackets. The 5K presents overall and age group awards including 10 and under and 11-13. A Halloween costume contest awards a $25 1st Place Sports gift card in three divisions. After the 10 mile finishes, participants may take one pumpkin per person. Race instructions are emailed the week of the event and include bib assignment and packet pickup location.
Packet pickup is available at selected 1st Place Sports locations on Friday, October 24 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday, October 25 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All packets move to the race site for race day pickup beginning one hour before the race. The event is part of the Jacksonville Grand Prix series; top ten finishers in age groups earn series points and the series awards more than $5,000 in cash and prizes.
