The Baldwin Group Corporate Run
The Baldwin Group Corporate Run is a community-focused sporting event held in downtown Jacksonville at James Weldon Johnson Park. The event features a 5 km (5K) run and walk designed specifically for the local business and non-profit community. The primary goals of the event include celebrating workplace fitness, promoting company spirit, and supporting health and wellness within the Jacksonville business sector.
Participants can form teams to represent their organizations. To be eligible for official team scoring, members must be employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week for their company. Scoring is based on the combined chip times of the top four finishers from a team, with a requirement that at least one of those finishers is female. There are 14 different industry divisions for competition, including Banking and Financial, Education, Legal, Medical, and Manufacturing and Construction.
The event includes several specific categories and activities:
- CEO Competition: Open to the most senior full-time employees of companies with five or more staff members.
- T-shirt Contest: Awards are given for original designs, colorful graphics, and creative use of company logos.
- Team Spirit Awards: Recognition for the teams with the highest number of total participants.
- Seeded Section: Fast runners capable of finishing in under 25 minutes may be positioned at the front of the starting line.
The course features water and aid stations at the start, the midpoint, and the finish line. For safety, the use of baby joggers, strollers, bicycles, roller skates, and dogs is prohibited on the race course. Proceeds from the event benefit local high school cross country and track teams, as well as the construction of a new running trail at Aterro Recreation Park.
