About the race
The Even Splits York 5K is a monthly 5 kilometre road race held at the University of York Sport Village Cycle Circuit. Races take place from February through November on a flat circuit laid out as five laps, with an overall entry limit of 200 competitors and places available for wheelchairs. The event is chip timed and a race licence has been applied for; results are published on Power of 10. Finish-line text messages are sent to competitors as they cross the line and kilometre splits are published the following day.
A chocolate bar is handed out at the finish. Entry options include single race entries and a multi-race pass covering September to November, with separate prices for affiliated and unaffiliated entrants. First-time entrants are issued a race number with an embedded timing chip to collect from registration; this number can be reused at York and Leeds 5K events. Previously issued red 5K numbers from 2020 to 2025 may be reused if recorded on the entry form.
Each entrant is entitled to one free replacement number in a 12 month period, with subsequent replacements charged at £4. Entry on the day is not available. A place may be deferred once to the next race in the same calendar year if the request is made at least three days before race day. No refunds are offered and race places cannot be transferred to another runner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
