Event overview
The York 5K on 11 September 2026 is a single-distance road race held at the University of York Sport Village Cycle Circuit. The event is part of a monthly series held from February to November at the same venue. The race distance is 5 kilometres and the course is run over five laps of the cycle circuit.
Course, timing and facilities
The course is described as flat and is suitable for wheelchairs. The race is chip-timed and holds an EA licence; results are published on Power of 10. Runners receive kilometre splits the next day and receive race results by text at the finish. Finishers are given a chocolate bar. Facilities listed at the venue include water stations, distance markers and toilets. There are no changing facilities, no showers and no baggage store.
Entry, numbers and rules
Entry is limited to 200 runners. Prices for a single York entry are shown as £10 (affiliated) and £12 (unaffiliated). A multi-race pass for September to November is listed as £26 (affiliated) and £31 (unaffiliated). Online entry closes at 10:00 on race day and entry on the day is not available. Each first-time entrant is issued a race number with an embedded timing chip for reuse. Entries are non-refundable and race places are not transferable; one deferral to the next available race in the calendar year is allowed if requested at least three days before race day.
