Sundowner Triathlon
The Sundowner Triathlon takes place on 12 September 2026 at Allerthorpe Lakeland Park, Pocklington, York. The event is currently sold out and there is a waiting list of over 250 people.
The swim uses the man-made lake at Allerthorpe Lakeland Park. The water is described as shallow and clear, with depths between 5 ft and 7 ft so entrants can stand in places. The lake is sheltered from wind and typically produces flat water.
The bike leg follows quiet country lanes around the park and local villages. The course is flat, open to traffic, well signed and run as a non-draft legal bike leg.
The run is a flat trail route around the lake designed to be spectator friendly. The 2026 route has been adjusted to avoid the canal tow path.
Distances offered include:
- Sprint Triathlon - 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
- Olympic Triathlon - 1500m swim, 45km bike, 10km run
- 70.3 Triathlon - 1900m swim, 90km bike, 21km run
- Relay and aquabike/aquathlon options at Olympic and 70.3 distances
Participants must hold a British Triathlon membership or purchase a single-use Race Pass for an additional £8 to meet event safety and insurance requirements. Included on race day are chip timing, finishers medal and t-shirt, marshalled and way-marked routes, aid stations, medical support, bike mechanic support, parking, toilets and an athlete village.
