Sundowner Triathlon
The Sundowner Triathlon takes place at Allerthorpe Lakeland Park on Saturday 12th September 2026. The event returns for a second year with organisers applying lessons from 2025. It offers multiple race formats and on-course mechanical and medical support.
The swim takes place in a shallow, clear man-made lake with water depths between 5 ft and 7 ft, allowing entrants the option to stand in some areas. The lake is sheltered from wind so the surface is typically flat. The bike leg follows flat, open roads around quiet country lanes and local villages. The course is open to traffic, is well signed and is non-draft legal. The run is a flat trail loop around the lake that is spectator friendly; the route avoids the canal tow path this year.
Race formats include:
- Sprint Triathlon - 750m Swim, 20km Bike, 5km Run
- Olympic Triathlon - 1500m Swim, 45km Cycle, 10km Run
- 70.3 Triathlon - 1900m Swim, 90km Cycle, 21km Run
- Relay, Aquabike and Aquathlon versions for Olympic and 70.3 distances
Participants must hold British Triathlon membership or purchase a single use Race Pass for an additional £8.00 to meet insurance and safety requirements. Included for entrants are a finishers medal, finishers t-shirt, athlete village, chip timing, way-marked and marshalled routes, aid stations, bike mechanic support, medical cover, on-site parking, toilets and catering. Camping is available on site at additional cost. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
