Event Overview
The Euchre Bar Massacre is a fatass style running event held in the wilderness near Foresthill, California. The course follows the North Fork of the American River and is characterized by significant elevation changes and off-trail navigation. Participants should be prepared for bushwhacking and route-finding throughout the duration of the run. Due to the nature of the terrain, the organizer provides course maps only one week prior to the event date.
The event features two primary distances:
- 25 miles: Includes approximately 10,000 feet of climbing.
- 50 miles: Includes approximately 20,000 feet of climbing.
The run starts and finishes at the Shirttail Creek Campground. The route utilizes various trails and areas including Euchre Bar, Pioneer Mine, Ebeneezer's highway, Green Valley, Mumford Bar, and Italian Bar. There is one designated location for crew access and drop bags that runners pass through twice during the event.
Registration is free of charge but is limited to a combined total of 50 participants for both distances. A specific requirement for all runners is to remain at the finish line until at least one subsequent participant has completed their run. Group camping is available for participants on Friday and Saturday nights.
The course is noted for its difficulty. Previous recorded finishing times include 14 hours for the 25-mile distance and 25 hours for the 50-mile distance. All listed distances are approximate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
