About the race
The second annual Champion Mine Trail Race is scheduled for October 11, 2026 in Nevada City, California, with event activities centered at 325 Spring Street. The race is organized by the Sierra TrailBlazers Running Club in partnership with the Bear Yuba Land Trust.
Courses combine pavement, gravel, and single-track trail. The half marathon route follows sections of the Tribute Trail and passes along Deer Creek, traverses towering pines, crosses a historic swinging bridge, and includes a series of climbs. Organizers note multiple aid stations, historical landmarks on the route, and a newly constructed trail section that adds varied terrain. The race begins on Nevada City’s Broad Street.
Race distances offered include:
- Half marathon: 13.1 miles
- 10K
- 5K: 3.1 miles
Registration opens June 1, 2026 and closes September 14, 2026 for the listed events. Published entry fees are $65 for the half marathon and $35 for the 10K and 5K. A training group for the race began with a first session on July 26, 2026. Funds raised by the event are designated to support the Mines to Pines trail development in Nevada County and a scholarship program for a graduating senior in the Nevada Joint Union District.
