Double Dipsea

The Double Dipsea is a long-distance trail race held on the Dipsea Trail between Stinson Beach and Mill Valley. The course covers 13.7 mile and is run from Stinson Beach to Mill Valley and then back to Stinson Beach, entirely on the Dipsea Trail in both directions.

The event uses a handicapped start format: most divisions receive a head start while the male under 40 division does not. Wave assignments are adjusted each year, so start times and relative advantages vary by running. The race enforces time cutoffs that entrants must meet to complete the course.

The Double Dipsea has been held many times since 1970; the 2026 running is the 56th edition. The 2026 event reached capacity and registration for that date was closed. Results from recent editions show wide age participation; in 2026 the overall winner was age 66 and top finishers ranged in age from 15 to 67, with both female and male athletes represented among the top placings.

Additional event information on topics such as course details, bib pickup, shirts and awards, and volunteer opportunities is provided by the organizer. The race is listed as an annual event on the organizer's calendar. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
