The in-person course runs through downtown Venice on a two loop route along a canopy tree lined road. The route begins across from Daquiri Deck on Venice Avenue, heads west toward the beach, and finishes near Daquiri Deck and Centennial Park. An after the race gathering at Centennial Park includes a beer garden, iced tea and coffee bar, vegan and non vegan breakfast burritos and pastries, live music by the Gazebo, and awards.
The event emphasizes zero waste and environmental responsibility in its operations. Measures listed include no single use plastic water bottles, no plastic goodie bags, reusable silicone cups at aid stations that are collected and sanitized, and souvenir silicone finisher cups for participants. Compostable parchment paper and napkins will be used and placed in compost bins with an expected decomposition window of 8 to 12 weeks. Leftover food will be collected and unused food donated to the Salvation Army.
Other sustainability practices include reuse or recycling of race bibs, a bin for medal drop off, and a bin for used athletic shoes to be recycled. Race shirts will be produced from rPET by a local apparel company. The majority of proceeds are designated for the Environmental Conservancy of North Port and surrounding areas, an organization focused on acquiring neighborhood land parcels and protecting green spaces.
