Event Overview
The Enviro Race is a zero-waste event focused on environmental awareness and responsibility within the sports community. Located in scenic downtown Venice, Florida, the race takes place on a course featuring two loops along a road lined with canopy trees. Participants begin the route across from the Daiquiri Deck on Venice Avenue, heading west toward the beach before returning to the finish area near Centennial Park.
Available distances include:
- 3.1 Miles (5k)
- 3.1 Miles (Virtual 5k)
The event implements various sustainable practices to minimize its environmental footprint. Water stations utilize reusable silicone cups that are collected and sanitized for future use, rather than single-use plastic bottles. Race shirts are produced by a local company using rPET recycled plastic. Participants are encouraged to use provided bins for food waste, compostable materials, and the recycling of race bibs, unwanted medals, and used athletic shoes.
A post-race gathering is held near the Gazebo and features live music, a beer garden, and an iced tea and coffee bar. Food options include vegan and non-vegan breakfast burritos and pastries. Finisher awards are presented three deep across numerous age groups, ranging from 9 and under to 80 plus, along with overall and masters categories. The majority of proceeds are donated to a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving natural habitats and protected green spaces. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
