Sandy Claws Beach Run - 50th Annual
Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, with presenting sponsor New Balance University, presents the 50th Annual Sandy Claws Beach Run at Siesta Beach in Sarasota, FL. The event includes a chip-timed 5K sanctioned by the Manasota Track Club and part of the MTC Race Series, a 1-mile fun run/walk, and a virtual 5K option.

All participants in the 5K, 1-Mile and virtual events receive finisher medals. The 5K offers custom awards for first through sixth place finishers in each age category. The event program also includes music, food, raffle prizes, and a holiday-themed costume contest with categories such as Oldest Sandy Claws Shirt, Best '70s Costume, Most Festive Holiday Outfit, Best Duo Costume, and Best Family/Group Costume.
Registration opens May 1, 2026. Registration deadlines differ by event; the 1-mile registration closes November 20, 2026, while the 5K and virtual 5K have earlier close dates. Registering by November 20 secures a long-sleeve performance event shirt and runner goodies; registrations from November 21 onward receive event shirts and goodies while supplies last, and no-shows forfeit these items. A 5K Family 4-Pack registration discount is available for groups of four. Discount codes for youth groups of ten or more are offered.
Packet pickup includes an early pickup on December 10 at Molly's (New Balance Sarasota), 1872 Stickney Point Road, and race-day packet pickup is available on the day of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
