Sandy Claws Beach Run
The 50th Annual Sandy Claws Beach Run is hosted by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources with presenting sponsor New Balance University at Siesta Beach, 948 Beach Road, Sarasota FL. The event offers on-site and virtual options on hard-packed sand at Siesta Beach.
Available events include:
- 5K : chip-timed on hard-packed Siesta Beach sand, sanctioned by the Manasota Track Club and part of the MTC Race Series.
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk : an all-ages shore stroll along Siesta Beach.
- Virtual 5K : participants may walk or run the distance remotely.
All finishers in the 5K, 1-mile and virtual events receive finisher medals. Custom awards are given for first through sixth place in all 5K age categories. Additional event features include music, food, raffle prizes, and a holiday-themed costume contest with categories for Oldest Sandy Claws Shirt, Best 70s Costume, Most Festive Holiday Outfit, Best Duo Costume and Best Family or Group Costume.
Registration opens May 1. The 5K and virtual 5K registration closes July 13; the 1-mile registration closes November 20. Fees listed are $35 for the 5K and virtual 5K and $25 for the 1-mile. Registering by November 20 secures a long-sleeve performance event shirt and runner goodies; later registrations receive shirts while supplies last. A 5K Family 4-Pack discount is available for groups of four. Discount codes for youth groups of 10 or more are available.

- Additional virtual packet pickup: December 14–18, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., 5883 Hummingbird Avenue, Sarasota FL.
- Race day packet pickup available before 7:45 a.m.
