Emerald Mountain Trail Run
This event is the season finale of the Steamboat Springs Running Series where series winners will be announced and should be present to pick up awards. It takes place at Olympian Hall on Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Distances:
- 12k (roughly 7.75 miles), run or hike
- 4 mile run or hike
The route begins behind Olympian Hall and uses aspen-lined singletrack on Emerald Mountain. The courses follow trails named Robbie’s, Mile Run and Blackmere, and include sections on Larry’s, Lupine, the Bluffs, Little Moab, and the Quarry. The 12k course crosses a meadow and returns via a large loop; the 4 mile course passes the horse stables and park fields before returning to the start area. Hikers are welcomed in the 12k.
Participants are asked to be respectful on narrow trails; hikers should pull to the side to allow runners to pass. Headphones are not encouraged. Pets are not ideal for much of this course and, because the race is held in a city park, all pets must be leashed.
Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place males and females. Every participant is entered in a prize raffle that follows the awards, and the series awards for 2024 will follow the race awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
