Ellesmere Triathlon
The Ellesmere Triathlon takes place on Saturday 4th September 2027 at The Mere, Cremorne Gardens, Ellesmere, Shropshire. The event combines open water swimming in the freshwater Mere with road cycling through Shropshire countryside and a run route alongside the Mere, on woodland trails and traffic-free paths.
The event incorporates the UK Triathlon Sprint, Olympic and Middle Championships 2027, and entrants are eligible for championship awards. Prizes are given to the top three overall in the open and female categories and to winners of five-year age-group categories for Sprint, Olympic and Middle distances.
Distances
- Middle: 2000m swim, 78km cycle, 20km run
- Olympic: 1.5km swim, 39km cycle, 10km run
- Sprint: 750m swim, 25km cycle, 5km run
- Fun Sprint: 200m swim, 25km cycle, 5km run
Relay teams can consist of two or three people; each team member completes one or two disciplines and uses an electronic chip passed in transition. Team members may cross the finish together and collect medals. Age minimums apply by race type.
Wetsuit rules: wetsuits are compulsory for Olympic, Olympic Relay, Middle and Middle Relay events; wetsuits are recommended but not compulsory for Sprint, Sprint Relay and Fun Sprint.
The Mere has held the Green Flag Award for 13 consecutive years. Full competitor information and race numbers are emailed to entrants 7–10 days before the event and race packs are collected at on-site registration on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
