Ellesmere 10k Run
The Ellesmere 10k takes place on Sunday 23rd August 2026 with race headquarters on Scotland Street in the centre of Ellesmere. The course starts and finishes close to the town centre and includes a mix of centre roads and countryside lanes, passing through the grounds of Ellesmere College. The route features generally fast sections interspersed with small inclines and offers varied views.
Organisers plan for road closures on the route for runner safety; diversion routes will be in place and marshals will be on duty. Spectators are asked to remain off the course until runners have passed and are suggested to watch from Scotland Street and High Street. Parking is available in several town centre car parks a short walk from the start and finish areas. Residents should note that some roads will be closed temporarily and may need to move vehicles before closures take effect.
The event provides a finishers medal and post-race goodies. Water will be available at a station about halfway on the route and at the start and finish area; runners are encouraged to carry an appropriate bottle. Minimum age for participation is 15 years. The race has a 90 minute cut-off; participants who fall behind this pace may be asked to withdraw for safety. Prizes are awarded to the top three female and top three male finishers, plus seven age group awards for each gender.
