Electric 5k
The Electric 5k in Las Cruces is a volunteer-produced, closed-course evening running event that takes place on W Hadley Ave in front of the Meerscheidt Center. Two distances are offered:
- 5K
- 1 Mile
All races begin and end on W Hadley Ave across from the Meerscheidt Center. The 5K route runs south on W Hadley to Solano, north to Madrid, makes a U-turn before the Apodaca Baseball field, and retraces back to the finish line. The street is lined with spectators for the Las Cruces Electric Parade. The course has less than 10 feet of elevation gain. Chip timing is used.
Registration details in the source indicate a paid registration fee of $25.00 and free registration for participants age 14 and under. Registration opens in early July 2025 and closes July 20, 2025. Paid participants receive a bib and a t shirt while supplies last; t shirts are not guaranteed after June 12. A group discount of five dollars per person applies to groups of four or more who register together; free youth entries cannot be combined with group discounts.
Awards include overall top three male and female in the 5K, age group awards for male and female runners, and age group awards for the 1 Mile. The event notes race swag, tech shirts for paid entries, prizes for best costume and largest team, race photos and a finisher video posted to the results page, and after-race snacks and drinks. Event parking is noted at Paz Baseball fields and the Las Cruces Skating Park parking lot off W Hadley. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
