Event Overview
The Electric 5k takes place on July 3, 2026 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The event features two distances: a 5k and a 1 Mile Fun Run. Both races start and finish on W Hadley Avenue across from the Meerscheidt Center.
The course for the 5k is an out-and-back route. It runs south on W Hadley Avenue to Solano, north to Madrid, makes a U-turn before the Apodaca Baseball field, and returns to the finish line. The race course has less than 10 feet of elevation gain. It is described as a closed course.
Participant Details
Entry is free for runners age 14 and under. Paid participants receive a race bib and a t-shirt, though t-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after June 12. A group discount of $5 per person is available for groups of four or more who register at the same time, though free youth runners are not eligible for this discount.
On-Site Features
The event is timed with chip timing. There are prizes for the best costume and for the largest team. After the race, snacks and drinks are provided. Results, race photos tagged by bib number, and a finisher video are posted online.
Community Impact
The event is volunteer-produced. Portions of the registration proceeds support the LCRC Summer Youth Program, a series of free 1-mile runs for children 14 and under, and donations are made to Doña Ana area high school cross-country programs.
