Jackalope Race 2026 : Doña Ana County, New Mexico
The third edition of the Jackalope Race takes place October 18, 2026 in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. The event adds new course sections and offers three formats: a trail run, a run-plus-ride, and a bike race. The event is USAC sanctioned and the entry cost is $65.00.
The course begins near Mesquite in south Doña County and heads north toward Las Cruces, passes Tortugas Mountain, and returns via the Sierra Vista Trail. The start location is listed at Gasline Road, coordinates 32.20819 N, 106.63875 W. Parking is on the quarry road; participants are asked not to park on the gasline or powerline road.
Distances available in the trail run and bike race:
- Small: 20K / 12MI
- Medium: 47K / 29MI
- Large: 65K / 41MI (small course followed by medium course)
The run-plus-ride format requires running the small course, returning to the start/finish, then riding the medium course. Only MTB or gravel bikes are allowed for bike events and run-plus-ride; some course sections favor gravel bikes while others favor mountain bikes. Bikes must have a number plate and be placed in the designated area prior to the run. Tubes are not allowed for the run-plus-ride.
Prizes are awarded to the top three men and top three women in each distance, each category (trail run, run-plus-ride, bike), and age group: under 18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.
