Day of the Dead - Day 1 and Day 2
This two day running series takes place October 24 and 25, 2026 at the South End Trail Head of La Llorona Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Events cover multiple distances and require online registration.
Distances include:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half-Marathon
- Marathon
- 50K
- 100K
- 100 Mile
The course is paved and flat with a crushed gravel lane alongside. It is USATF certified and described as a Boston qualifying course. Course layouts vary by distance: the half-marathon and longer distances use a 1.1 mile out-and-back loop repeated as needed, while the 5K and 10K are out-and-back courses of approximately 1.55 and 3.10 miles respectively. A Super Aid Station is located on the course and is passed multiple times; 5K and 10K runners pass two hydration stations. Organizers provide an aid station table for personal water bottles and an extensive selection of food and beverages.
Packet pickup and in-person registration are offered on the day before the races and on race mornings. An optional early start is available for half-marathon distances and longer. The event policy states no runner will be left behind. Walkers are welcome. Pets are not allowed but strollers for small children are permitted.
Every participant receives a t-shirt and all finishers receive a unique finisher medal for each day. Competitors who complete back-to-back ultra distances receive a special belt buckle and medal. Average temperatures are given as low 41 and high 73 degrees. The event is managed by Wanderlust Running Unlimited as of March 10, 2025.
