Day of the Dead Series
The Day of the Dead Series is a multi-day running event held in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The races take place over two days, Saturday and Sunday, starting at the south end of La Llorona Park on West Picacho Avenue. The event features a wide range of distances, and participants have the option to compete on either one or both days.
The course is a USATF Certified, Boston Qualifying route. It consists of a fast and flat paved surface with a crushed gravel lane running alongside it. The layout is an out-and-back format measuring 1.1 miles in each direction. A central aid station is positioned on the course, allowing runners to pass it multiple times during their event. The organizers provide an extensive selection of food and beverages at these stations, along with water bottle refill services.
Participants can choose from various distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half-Marathon
- Marathon
- 50K
- 100K
- 100 Miler
The event accommodates walkers in all categories and operates with a policy that remains until the final participant finishes. For longer distances, an optional early start is available for the Half-Marathon, Marathon, 50K, 100K, and 100 Miler categories. Strollers are permitted for those with small children, but pets are not allowed on the course. Each finisher receives a unique medal for each day of competition, and all participants receive a t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
