Elder Creek Night Runs
Elder Creek Night Runs is a night trail running event held near Anza, California on land of the Cahuilla Band of Indians. The event uses a 4.6 mile looped course that combines single track trail and wide dirt road, with sections through manzanita trees and notable rock formations and views of Cahuilla Mountain. The course layout returns runners past a parked car and provides an aid station after every loop.
Distances offered:
- 50 K
- 30 K
- 13 Miler
- 9 Miler
Loop counts for each distance are specified: the 9 Miler is two loops, the 13 Miler is three loops, the 30 K is four loops, and the 50 K is seven loops. The event is run under moonlit conditions and emphasizes night trail running on desert terrain. The organizers note respect for the Mountain Cahuilla people and state the race is permitted on their reservation land near Anza, established as Trust Land in 1875.
Field size is limited to 200 runners. A race guide and course maps are available from the organizers for route details and event information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
