About the race
The East Palestine Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning 5K run or walk held in East Palestine, Ohio, with the course starting near 31 Park Ave. The event is presented as an annual holiday tradition and is organized with community packet pickup and race-day packet pickup at the East Palestine Community Center (drive-thru pickup near the basketball courts and children's playground). Registration opens July 30, 2026 and closes November 20, 2026; the fee is $29. Participant registration through October 31 includes a shirt, bib number, a unique commemorative medal and a swag bag.
Medals are limited to the first 300 pre-registered participants. After November 1 no swag bag or medal will be provided, and shirt sizes will be limited after that date. A long sleeve shirt option is available for an additional $8; each participant receives either a short sleeve shirt or a long sleeve shirt, not both. Cash prizes include $100 for first place male and female overall, and $10 for first place male and female in the following age groups: 10 & Under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & Up.
All awards will be mailed after the race. If the live event is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the Turkey Trot will convert to a virtual event. No refunds are offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
