East Leake End of Season Triathlon
The event is an end-of-season triathlon organised by Endorphin Sport at East Leake Leisure Centre near Loughborough, held in late September. It welcomes clubs, relay teams, families and individual competitors and presents multiple race formats and age categories.
Race formats include:
- Sprint: 400m swim / 22km bike / 5km run
- Junior/Youth (17-19): 400m swim / 22km bike / 5km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 400m swim / 22km bike
- Sprint Aquathlon: 400m swim / 5km run
- Relay teams: 400m swim / 22km bike / 5km run
The swim takes place in a 4-lane 25m pool (16 lengths equals 400m). Swimmers are grouped into waves of up to four, start times are arranged by estimated swim ability, and competitors are responsible for counting their lengths. There are no changing facilities at the pool exit and transition to the bike involves about a 150m run on tarmac and grass.
The bike is a 22km out-and-back on open roads with an undulating profile. The run is a 5km course over mixed surfaces in three one-mile laps, combining pavement and hard pack trail.
Event facilities include a marked course, chip timing and online results, food and coffee vendors, toilets including baby-changing and disabled toilets, disabled parking and a medical safety team. Prizes are awarded across open, female, age group, aquabike, aquathlon and beginner categories. A Beginners Workshop, including a coached swim, is offered at the venue with date to be confirmed and limited spaces. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
