Courses and route

Distances offered:

  • 8 Trigs Ultramarathon - about 53 km
  • 6 Trigs Marathon - about 42 km
  • 3 Trigs Half Marathon - about 21 km

All distances are approximate and assume the shortest line between trig points. All routes start at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club and follow the South West Coast Path to West Down Beacon, then head inland across Woodbury Common. The half route stays on the western side of the Otter Valley; the marathon and ultra cross the river Otter and include additional hills and trigs. Routes will be run in the reverse direction for 2026. A suggested route and GPX files are available, and Explorer 115 map covers the area. Participants must stamp a card at each trig to prove visits. One listed trig, Buckton Hill, is currently inaccessible; a wooden signpost on the bridleway is listed as the alternative. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
