East Devon 8 Trigs (Half/Marathon/Ultra)
The event on 3 October 2026 is a self navigated trail event based at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club. It is open to runners and walkers and allows solo, pairs and team entries. Staggered starts are used and GPS tracking is included. Hot food and showers will be available at the finish.
Distances and maximum times:
- 3 Trigs Half Marathon (about 22 km) – Max time 6 hrs
- 6 Trigs Marathon (about 40 km) – Max time 10 hrs
- 8 Trigs Ultramarathon (about 53 km) – Max time 12 hrs
All routes begin in Budleigh Salterton and follow the South West Coast Path to West Down Beacon before heading inland and crossing Woodbury Common. Routes are not way marked; basic navigation skills are required. The three distances follow different lines around the Otter and Sid valleys, with the half avoiding the biggest hills and the longer options including additional climbs and coastal sections. Routes will be run anti clockwise in 2026.
A suggested route and GPX file will be available on Outdoor Active and Explorer 115 covers the whole area. Participants must stamp a card at each trigpoint to prove visits. One listed trigpoint, Buckton Hill, is currently inaccessible so an alternative wooden signpost location is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
