Event overview

East Devon 8 Trigs is a self-navigation trail event held on Saturday 3 October 2026. It is open to runners and walkers and offers solo entries or teams of two. GPS tracking is provided. The event base is Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club in Budleigh Salterton, Devon, with car parking, a bar, a cafe and hot showers. Entries open 3 December 2025 and close 24 September 2026. Entry fees vary by distance and change on 1 February 2026.

Routes and checkpoints

Three approximate course options are available:

  • 21 km 3 Trigs Half Marathon
  • 42 km 6 Trigs Marathon
  • 53 km 8 Trigs Ultramarathon

All routes start at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club and follow the South West Coast Path to West Down Beacon, then head inland across Woodbury Common. The Half returns after Woodbury trigpoint. The Marathon and Ultra cross the River Otter and climb Beacon Hill; the Marathon returns via High Peak. The Ultra continues to Buckton Hill and Weston Cliff before returning via High Peak. Routes will be run in the reverse direction for 2026. A suggested route and GPX file will be available on Outdoor Active. Participants must stamp a card at each trigpoint to prove visits.
