Earth Day 5K Family Fun Run/Walk : La Porte, IN
The event is a community 5K run/walk based at the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater in La Porte. The course follows a loop around Clear Lake with an out-and-back section on the Chessie Trail. The event is part of a regional Gold Cup Series and offers timed results.
Proceeds support the La Porte City Park Foundation and will fund park improvements and environmental initiatives. Race finishers receive sustainable medals. Race shirts are optional; a shirt costs approximately $10 to produce and T-shirts are guaranteed for participants who register by April 9. Choosing no shirt leaves that $10 with the La Porte City Park Foundation.
There are special weight-based award divisions: an Athena division for women 170 pounds and over, and a Clydesdale division for men 210 pounds and over; those divisions list no age group awards. General registration fees are shown in two tiers, with an early rate and a race-week rate; a reduced fee applies for children ages 0–8. Packet pickup is available in advance at the park office and on race day at the event site. Truesdell Avenue and Taylor Drive will be closed for the race; additional parking is available in the lot off McClung Road behind the amphitheater. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
