Event overview
The Dunstable Downs Half Marathon is a trail race held at the National Trust Countryside Centre at Dunstable Downs. The next edition is on 21 June 2026. The race distance is 21.2 km with over 450 m of elevation. The event is limited to 300 runners and has a 4 hour time limit. Dogs are not permitted. Minimum age is 17. The race holds TRA licence No. 7442 and is run under UKA rules. Entry fees are £35 or £33 for UKA affiliated runners.
Route and on-course support
The route starts and finishes at the event base and includes ridge views, steep climbs, and descents. Key sections pass the Tree Cathedral, Bison Hill, Kensworth Quarry and Five Knoles. The course is marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons, supported by marshals at sharp turns. Aid/support locations include points at 6.7 km and 13.7 km, and a checkpoint at 10.7 km offering water, coke, gels and jelly babies. Precision Fuel & Hydration products are supplied at aid stations.
Facilities and requirements
Permanent toilets are available at the event base and are near the route at about 5 km and 12 km. There is on-site parking (£3.50 or free for National Trust members), a bag drop, and an on-site cafe open after the race. Runners are asked to carry a mobile phone, a digital route map on watch or phone, and a reusable cup or bottle.
