Event overview

The Dunstable Downs Half Marathon is a trail half marathon held at the National Trust Countryside Centre, Dunstable Downs (LU6 2GY). The next edition is scheduled for 21st June 2026. The course distance is 21.2 km with over 450 m of elevation. Entry requires a minimum age of 17 and a maximum field of 300 runners. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association (TRA License No. 7442) and is held under UK Athletics rules. Dogs are not permitted. Entry includes a finishers medal, live timing, course-wide medical support and a bag drop at the event base.

Route, aid and logistics

The route starts and finishes at the National Trust centre. The course passes the Tree Cathedral, Bison Hill, Kensworth Quarry and an out-and-back to Five Knoles. Navigation is provided with orange arrow markers and ribbons, plus marshals at sharp turns. Runners are advised to carry a digital route map on a watch or phone. On-route aid is provided; aid station locations are listed at 6.7 km and 13.7 km, and a race checkpoint is located at 10.7 km. The checkpoint supplies water, cola, gels from Precision Fuel & Hydration and jelly babies. Trail running shoes are recommended due to uneven and steep footpaths. On-site facilities include parking (fee or free for National Trust members), toilets, a bag drop and a cafe. A time limit of 4 hours applies.
