Dunstable Downs Half Marathon
The Dunstable Downs Half Marathon is a trail race held at the National Trust Countryside Centre, Dunstable Downs (LU6 2GY) on 21 June 2026. The distance is 21.2 km with over 450 m of ascent. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. Maximum field size is 300 runners, the minimum age is 17 and the course has a 4 hour time limit. The event is listed as a UTMB World Series Index Race.
The route starts at the National Trust centre and runs to the Tree Cathedral and Bison Hill before returning past the centre. Runners complete a full loop of Kensworth Quarry, rejoin the Downs for an out-and-back to Five Knoles, then follow the lower Downs trails, finishing by running the first 5 km in reverse. Navigation uses orange arrow markers and ribbons, supported by marshals at sharp turnings. A GPX file and route maps are provided for upload to watches or phones.
There are two aid stations at approximately 6.7 km and 13.7 km offering water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration gels and jelly babies. The event base provides toilets, a bag drop and car parking (£3.50 or free for National Trust members); an on-site cafe operates from 10am. Required items recommended for the whole event include a mobile phone, a digital route map on watch or phone and a reusable cup or bottle. Trail running shoes are advised for uneven and steep footpaths.
Entry fees are listed as £35 (£33 UKA affiliated) with a late entry fee of £40 (£38 UKA affiliated) from 27 April 2026. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall and in listed age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
