Event overview

The Dunstable Downs Half Marathon is a trail race held at the National Trust Countryside Centre, Dunstable Downs (LU6 2GY). The next edition is scheduled for 21 June 2026. The race distance is 21.2 km with around 450 m+ of elevation. Entry costs are £35 (£33 for UKA affiliated runners). The event is limited to 300 runners, has a 4 hour time limit and a minimum age of 17. Dogs are not permitted. The race is listed on the UTMB World Series index and is held under TRA / UKA licence (TRA Licence No. 7442).

Course, facilities and logistics

The route starts at the National Trust centre and passes the Tree Cathedral, Bison Hill, Kensworth Quarry and Five Knoles, finishing via lower Downs trails. The course is marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons; marshals will staff sharp turnings and busy areas. On-course aid provision is listed, including a checkpoint around 10.7 km offering water, Coke, PF-30 gels and jelly babies; other aid points are noted at 6.7 km and 13.7 km. Runners are asked to carry a mobile phone, a digital route map on watch or phone and a reusable cup or bottle. Facilities at the event base include car parking (£3.50 or free for National Trust members), permanent toilets and a bag drop. Trail running shoes are recommended for uneven and steep footpaths.
