Dunstable Downs Half Marathon
A scenic trail half marathon held on the National Trust estate at Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade. The route covers 21.2km with over 450m of elevation and follows varied trail terrain that includes ridge paths, descents and steep climbs. The event base is the National Trust Countryside Centre at Dunstable Downs.
The route begins at the National Trust centre, runs out to the Tree Cathedral and Bison Hill, completes a full loop of Kensworth Quarry with an aid station near 10km, then returns for an out and back to Five Knoles before finishing on the lower Downs trails, retracing the opening 5km in reverse.
The course is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons and will have marshals at sharp turns and busy areas. Runners are advised to carry a digital route map on a watch or phone as a backup. Two checkpoints are located at 6.7km and 13.7km and provide water, Coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration PF30 gels and jelly babies. Precision Fuel & Hydration products are available at aid stations.
Additional event details: maximum 250 runners, 4 hour time limit, UTMB World Series index race, minimum age 17, dogs not permitted. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. On-site facilities include parking, toilets, a bag drop and a cafe that opens after the event.
