Dunedin Rotary Triathlon
The Dunedin Rotary Triathlon is scheduled for May 17, 2026 at Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin, Florida, located at 1 Causeway Blvd. The event offers multiple race formats on the same day, including triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike.
- Triathlon: 1/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike, 5 km run
- Duathlon: 5 km run, 12 mile bike, 5 km run
- Aquabike: 1/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike
The swim is a triangular course that starts and finishes on the beach; water depth varies with the tide and can reach about 8 to 12 feet. Swimmers receive an assigned swim cap that must be worn; water shoes are permitted where broken shells are present. The 12 mile bike consists of two laps of a 6 mile loop over the Dunedin Causeway and around Honeymoon Island. Helmets must be secured before mounting and radios or headsets are not allowed on the bike course. Passing protocol requires staying to the hard right and announcing intent to pass on the left.
Timing uses a disposable ankle chip included in the race envelope; athletes are timed at multiple points including transitions. Transition rules require body marking and a timing chip to enter; only participating athletes may enter transition.
All finishers receive a finisher medal. Awards are given across age groups and in specialty divisions such as Athena, Clydesdale, Military and Adaptive categories, as well as for relay teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
