Event details
The Duncan Ridge Trail race is held at Vogel State Park in Blairsville, Georgia. There are two distance options:
- 50K
- 30K
The event uses the Coosa Backcountry Trail and the Duncan Ridge Trail. The route is mostly on trails, with a 1/4 mile section of paved road inside Vogel State Park. All proceeds are returned to the park volunteers.
Course, aid stations and cut-offs
The 50K is an out-and-back that follows the Coosa Backcountry Trail north out of the park, turns onto the Duncan Ridge Trail toward Coosa Bald, and reaches a turnaround at Fish Gap (FS road 88) before returning to the finish. The 30K follows the Coosa Backcountry Trail onto the Duncan Ridge Trail and turns onto FS 39 at White Oak Stomp, then returns via Wolf Pen Gap and the Coosa Backcountry Trail. Runners may switch to the 30K at the second aid station if they inform an aid station volunteer.
The course has seven aid stations (AS#1 through AS#7) located at specific trail intersections and mile points. Each aid station is stocked with water, sports drink and typical trail-race snacks. The course is open for ten hours and has strict cut-offs at the turnaround (mile 15.5) and at AS#7 (mile 27.5). The finish line is on the bridge leading to shelter #1 under the Duncan Ridge banner.
