Duncan Ridge Trail 50K and 30K

The Duncan Ridge Trail events take place at Vogel State Park in the North Georgia Mountains near Blairsville, GA, with start and finish centered at Lake Trahlyta. Two race options are offered:

  • 50K
  • 30K

The 50K course follows an out and back route using the Coosa Backcountry Trail and the Duncan Ridge Trail and includes more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain. The 30K follows the Coosa Backcountry Trail onto the DRT and departs onto FS 39 at White Oak Stomp before returning on the Coosa Backcountry Trail. All running is on trails except for a quarter mile of paved road inside the park. Runners may change to the 30K at the second aid station if they inform a volunteer.

The course is open for a fixed 10 hour window with strict cutoffs, including a 5 hour cutoff at the 50K turnaround (mile 15.5) and a 9 hour cutoff at AS#7 (mile 27.5). Aid stations are stocked with water, sports drink and typical trail race snacks. There are four aid stations overall and three are encountered on the return leg of the 50K.

Proceeds from the event are returned to park volunteers each year. The finish line is located at the bridge leading to shelter #1 under the Duncan Ridge banner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
