Event Overview
The Dorney Triathlon takes place at Dorney Lake in Windsor, a venue previously used for Olympic competitions. This event features a flat and scenic course designed to avoid racing on open roads. Participants swim in clear waters before transitioning to the bike and run segments within the grounds.
Course and Format
The event is designated as draft-illegal and uses chip timing to provide accurate results for all participants. The flat terrain makes the venue suitable for those seeking a personal best. A variety of distances and formats are available:
- Super Sprint: 400m swim, 10km bike, and 2.5km run.
- Sprint: 750m swim, 19km bike, and 5km run.
- Standard: 1500m swim, 38km to 40km bike, and 10km run.
- Aquabike: Swim and bike disciplines only, available in Sprint and Standard distances.
- Relay: Teams of two or three people sharing the disciplines for Sprint or Standard distances.
Participation Requirements
To participate, athletes must hold a race licence from British Triathlon. This can be achieved through an annual membership or by purchasing a single-use Race Pass during the event registration process. The event is open to participants aged 15 and over for Sprint distances and 17 and over for Standard distances. Free parking is available on-site at Dorney Lake.
