Event Overview
The Dorney Duathlon takes place at Dorney Lake in Windsor, a venue previously used for Olympic competitions. This event features a multi-lap course that is entirely flat, making it suitable for participants looking for chip-timed personal bests. The bike and run sections are held within the scenic grounds of the estate, away from open roads.
The event is classified as draft-illegal. To participate, all athletes must hold a British Triathlon race licence, which can be obtained through an annual membership or by purchasing a single-use race pass during the registration process. The run course is marked with distance flags, and organizers provide marshals along both the bike and run segments.
Distances
Participants can choose from three different distances, with options for both individual entries and relay teams:
- Super Sprint: 2.5 km run, 10 km bike, and 2.5 km run.
- Sprint: 5 km run, 19 km bike, and 2.5 km run.
- Standard: 10 km run, 38 km bike, and 5 km run.
Venue and Facilities
Dorney Lake offers facilities for supporters, including a balcony cafe that overlooks the transition area. This allows spectators to view the race progress and cheer for participants throughout the multi-lap course. Free parking is available on-site for all attendees.
The event is open to participants aged 15 and over for the Super Sprint and Sprint distances, while the Standard distance requires participants to be at least 17 years old by the end of the calendar year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
