Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge
The Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge is a looped trail event based at Henley Showground, scheduled for Sat 26 September 2026 and Sat 25 September 2027. The event offers supported walking, jogging, or running over several looped distances, with basecamp facilities in Henley.
- 50 km loop with about 920 m elevation
- 25 km loop with about 500 m elevation
- 10 km loop with about 235 m elevation
The route runs through Chilterns countryside along historic trails, rolling hills and nature reserves with notable viewpoints. The course is fully signed with pink arrows and uses glow-sticks at night. GPS tracking is available through the event app and a timing system scans participants at rest stops for progress monitoring.
Support and services include staffed covered rest stops roughly every 12.5 km with major stops at about 25 km and 50 km, regular snack points, main meals at 25 km intervals, hot drinks, water and energy drinks, and catering for dietary requirements. Medical cover includes doctors, paramedics, first aid, podiatrists and massage teams; a self help area provides blister plasters and basic supplies.
Henley basecamp provides camping packages with hot showers, a Saturday night meal and bar, parking and shuttle transfers to the nearest train station. Entry categories include an Ultra Trailblazerz option for faster runners, an Ultra March option for paced walkers aiming time targets, and a Solo Start option.
