Dormouse Challenge

Dormouse Challenge is held at Salcey Forest, near Northampton, England. This six-hour event welcomes runners, walkers and canicross participants to compete together, choosing how many 5k laps to complete on a 3.5-mile off-road loop. Distances are flexible: you can cover about 5k or push on to more than 80k within the time limit; a marathon is roughly seven laps, a half marathon about four.

The route follows well-maintained forest paths—mostly crushed stone or open forest floor, with muddy sections when wet. Expect a sociable atmosphere, an aid station serving mince pies and treats, and a choice of rewards (medal or a tree token). Parking is £3.50; bus and rail links are nearby.
