Heatwave Half Marathon - Greater Chicago
The Heatwave event at Busse Woods Picnic Grove #32 in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, offers multiple running options on the same date. Event formats include in-person distances, a relay, a volunteer-then-run option, and a virtual race.
Most in-person distances include a custom bib, a designer shirt, and a finisher medal. The 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon use chip timing with live results and include awards. The 1 Mile and the Kids Dash are untimed; the Kids Dash is for ages 10 and under and includes a mini bib, a youth-sized shirt, and a specially crafted medal. Youth pricing applies for the 5K and 10K for ages 12 and under.
The Half Marathon Relay requires each team member to register individually; teams can be any size. The Volunteer Then Run option asks volunteers to arrive 30 minutes before packet pickup and then allows them to run any distance. The Virtual Race permits participants to run any day at any location, includes a digital bib, event shirt, finisher medal, and packet shipping; mailed packets ship the Wednesday after the race and participants can upload times and photos.
To guarantee a shirt, registrants must register by midnight on Thursday two Thursdays before race day.
