About the race
The Dominion Valley Turkey Trot takes place on November 21 at Dominion Valley Country Club in Haymarket, VA. The event includes a certified 5k course and a 1-mile fun run and awards series points toward the 5k & Back of the Pack Series and the Fall Series. The event benefits the nonprofit Willing Warriors.
The race format and amenities include:
- 5k - certified course, mostly flat with a few rolling hills
- 1-mile fun run - shirt optional $15; fun-run medals awarded
The 5k is chip timed. Runners who register by November 11 are guaranteed a long-sleeve event shirt; additional shirts are ordered on a first-come, first-served basis after that date. Registration fees listed for the 5k are $35 until June 1, $40 until November 20, and $45 on the day of the race; the 1-mile registration fee is $15.
Practical details: packet pickup is available at the event and the Friday before the race from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Race day registration is offered; participants registering that day should allow extra time and note that shirt sizes may not be guaranteed. One water station is located near mile 2. Restrooms are at the Sport Pavilion, where the race starts and ends; parking uses the Sport Pavilion upper and lower lots, with overflow across Dominion Valley Boulevard. Live results are posted online and final results with series points are published the Monday following the race.
Awards are given to male and female overall and to the top three male and female finishers in age groups 15 & under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
