BreatheStrong+ Dog Days of Summer : Atlanta, GA
BreatheStrong+ Dog Days of Summer is a monthlong training challenge that prepares participants to complete a 5K on Labor Day in conjunction with the Big Peach Sizzler in Atlanta, Georgia. The challenge runs from August 3 to September 6 and culminates with completion of a personal 5K on Monday, September 7. Participants may complete their 5K wherever they live and submit results online between September 7 and September 14.
The program provides weekly training plans for both walkers and runners and delivers encouraging emails and motivational messages from the organization’s Chief Barketing Officer. The challenge emphasizes community support and includes options for teams and group participation.
Registration options range from free to $45 and include different package levels. The free option provides weekly emails only. Paid levels add a training plan and commemorative race bib for $10, a finisher’s medal at $25, an event t-shirt at $35, and a combined t-shirt and medal at $45. Fundraising for BreatheStrong CF is available as part of the challenge and can be used to support the organization’s grants and programs.
This event is connected to the 16th Annual Big Peach Sizzler, which features both a 10K and a 5K in Atlanta, but Dog Days of Summer supports remote participation as well as in-person involvement. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
