Dirty Kiln Trail Races at Canoe Creek State Park
The 15th running of the Dirty Kiln Trail Races at Canoe Creek State Park is scheduled for April 2027 and is organized by Allegheny Trailrunners, Inc., an all volunteer 501c3. The event offers two course choices and uses a variety of trail surfaces and features including horse paths, winding singletrack, stream crossings and extensive muddy sections.
Participants can choose between these distances:
- 10K course that climbs Moore’s Hill and circumnavigates Canoe Creek Lake.
- Half marathon course that completes a second loop of the park on a more hilly route.
The event enforces cutoff times to support safety and logistics. Cutoffs for the half marathon are based on a 4 hour 15 minute finish pace; the 10K must be completed within 4 hours. Half marathon runners must meet intermediate checkpoint time requirements to continue on the second loop.
Registration rules include eligibility for a 50% refund of the race fee minus RunSignup fees until March 11, 2027. No deferrals or bib transfers are permitted, and there are no same day signups.
Allegheny Trailrunners contributes net proceeds to predetermined charities and runs the event with volunteer officers. The race is Trail Sisters Approved, with commitments to equal podium spots and awards, women specific apparel and swag, menstrual products at aid stations, and equal opportunity on the starting line.
