Dirty Fox Five Hour Trail Race
This event runs for five hours on the trail network at Franke Park and includes separate categories for trail runners, mountain bike riders, relay teams, and wheelchair athletes. Competitors aim to complete as many full laps as possible within the five hour time limit.
Distances and course surfaces:
- Runner: 3 mile loop on technical dirt trails in Franke Park
- Rider: 6 mile loop on technical dirt trails in Franke Park
- Wheelchair: 2 mile loop on paved and gravel trails in Franke Park
Laps are recorded using a timing mat and a whiteboard at the HUB. Only complete laps counted within the five hour limit are credited. The participant with the highest number of full laps wins each category; ties are broken by the fastest first lap.
There are no aid stations on course. Picnic style food, water, Coke, and Sprite are available for participants at the HUB. Wheelchair participants will receive a wristband for access to food and drinks. Participants are encouraged to set up a home base near the HUB at the base of Derby Hill.
Safety notes and awards:
- Riders must wear a bicycle helmet; safety glasses are recommended.
- Awards are given to the top male and top female finisher in each category.
Funds raised will be donated to Summit City Singletrack for trail maintenance and projects. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
