Event overview
The 26th Annual River City Rat Race takes place on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. The event includes a 10K Run/Walk and a 5K Run/Walk that travel through autumn parks and the riverfront. The race benefits the local YMCA. The 10K is a Fort Wayne Run Club points race. Participants receive a race T-shirt and a finisher medal; age group awards are given.

Location and logistics
The event place is listed as 300 E Main St, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. The race start is at 200 E. Main St and the finish line is at the Old Fort. Packet pick-up is available the day before at the Central Branch YMCA, 1020 S. Barr St, and on race day at Freimann Square, 201 E. Main St. Pre-race day registration is offered at packet pick-up on October 17 for $50 at the downtown YMCA; race day registration is $60. Regular registration price shown for each event is $35 with a later price increase noted after May 30, 2026.
Awards and prizes
Awards include top three overall and top three Masters for each race, plus top runner in multiple age groups from 1-14 up to 80-99.
