Dirty Dog Trail Run - Midland City Forest
The Dirty Dog Trail Run is an annual off-road event held in Midland City Forest to raise funds for Shelterhouse and SOS Animal Rescue. The event offers trail distances for runners and a walk option through woods and preserves.
The course combines unpaved two-track and single-track trails that cross flat sections and hills within a 520 acre preserve of woods, creeks, marshes, and bridges. Trail surfaces and turns create varied footing and require attention to surroundings.
Distances:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 mile walk
Registration and packet pickup follow standard event procedures. Pre-registration before August 1 avoids late fees and includes an option to purchase a shirt for $10; shirts are men’s sizes with some youth shirts available and are not guaranteed for late or same-day registrants. Packet pickup is offered the day before and on the morning of the event at Midland City Forest.
Dogs are welcome but not required. All dogs must be on leashes and handlers should consider each dog’s abilities and limit dog-to-dog interactions.
Timing and services include chip timing with an on-site kiosk for finish times, a mid-course water station, and post-race fruit, snacks, and water. The event proceeds rain or shine; thunder or lightning will prompt postponement until conditions are safe. In case of cancellation, registrations convert to a virtual format with an alternate packet process. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
