Dirt Cheap Trail Race Series

The Dirt Cheap Trail Race Series is a collection of mid-week running events held in different parks throughout Monroe County. Established in 2008, this series provides a way for participants to run or walk through local trail systems. The series consists of four races scheduled between May and August, taking place on Wednesday evenings at various locations including Durand Eastman Park, Webster Park, Mendon Ponds Park, and Black Creek Park.

Distances vary depending on the specific park location:

  • 3.5 to 4.5 miles

The events utilize chip timing, with results available online and via text or email for those who opt-in. Participants who register for the entire series receive a single bib number for all four races. A concierge service is provided to store and transport bibs between events to prevent loss. Series participants also receive a custom hat and are eligible for series-specific scoring and awards based on their performance in at least three of the four races. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, along with the top two finishers in age groups ranging from 19 and under to 70 plus.

Post-race activities include a hot dog cookout for participants. The events are cup-free zones, requiring runners to carry their own hydration. Course marking consists of pink flags, and participants are expected to follow trail etiquette when passing others. Registration must be completed in advance as there is no day-of registration available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
