About the race
The Karknocker 5K Race & Walk is the 29th annual running event held on the East Rochester School District campus at 200 Woodbine Avenue in East Rochester, NY. The course is USATF certified (NY24006KL) and the event is co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and M&T Bank. The public may register to participate in the 5K race or walk.
Participant benefits include a Karknocker DriFit t-shirt and medal for the first 200 registrants; to be eligible for a shirt, registrations must be received by 5:00 pm on July 6, 2026. Water is available at the start, at mile markers, and after the race. Packet pickup is offered the day before at Rochester Running Company and on race day at East Rochester High School.
Prize structure and awards are published for overall and age-group finishers. Prize money is listed for the top five men and top five women as $500, $400, $300, $200 and $100 respectively, with additional prizes for masters and course records. Age-group awards use five-year increments and the top three in each age group receive medals. Awards are presented at the finish line. Entry fee information varies in listings; some entries list $25 while other notes indicate $30 plus fee or $35 plus fee on race day, with card payment required on race day.
