Dime McCarren 5K Run/Walk

The Dime McCarren 5K Run/Walk is a community 5K held in Brooklyn at John Ericsson Playground, produced in partnership with North Brooklyn Runners. The course is measured at 3.1 miles, electronically timed, and runs through streets in North Brooklyn; the route has been updated due to a road closure. The official time limit for runners is one hour; walkers are not timed.

Amenities include a T-shirt, sports drinks, a post-race spread of fruit and bottled water, an informal bag check (organizers cannot take responsibility for lost or stolen items), toilets, and water on the course.

Awards are presented by category. Top three male and female overall finishers receive Brooklyn Running Company gift cards of $300, $200, and $150. Top three male and female in age-group divisions receive $25 gift cards; age groups include 9 and under, 10–14, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+. Top three male and female first responder awards are $250, $175, and $125; eligible full-time first responders will be asked to show photo proof before awards. All award winners must have their bib during the award presentation, and attendance is required to receive certificates.

Packet pickup locations include a pre-race pickup at Brooklyn Running Company and a day-of pickup station on Leonard Street. Registrants receive email notifications about their bib number prior to pickup. Live online results, free finish-line video, and same-day finish-line photos are provided.
