Event details
The Derwent Reservoir Duathlons take place on Sunday 17 May 2026 at Derwent Waterside Park, Derwent Reservoir, Edmundbyers, Consett (DH8 9TT). The event uses tarmac and trail paths around the waterside for running and quiet open roads around the reservoir towards Edmundbyers, Blanchland and Slaley for cycling. The site is on the south side of the reservoir. Trail run options of 5km and 10km are also offered. Registration opens 26 September 2025 and closes 29 April 2026.
Race format and logistics
- Sprint Duathlon: Run 5km, Cycle 20km, Run 2.5km
- Standard Duathlon: Run 10km, Cycle 40km, Run 5km
Both distances can be entered individually or as a relay team. Any type of push bike may be used but a cycling helmet must be worn. Minimum age is 17 because parts of the event use open roads. A secure transition area is provided for competitors; bike and race numbers correspond with racking spots and will be checked. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink; an official event T-shirt is available for an additional fee.
