Event
The Derwent Reservoir Duathlons take place on Sunday 17 May 2026 at Derwent Waterside Park, Derwent Reservoir, Edmundbyers, Consett, DH8 9TT. The reservoir is owned by Northumbrian Water and sits on the border of Durham and Northumberland. The event includes running on tarmac and trail paths around the waterside and cycling on quiet open roads around the reservoir towards Edmundbyers, Blanchland and Slaley. The minimum age is 17 due to sections on open roads. Live chip timing will be used by Timing Up North. On-site parking is available for participants at £4 per car, payable by cash or card. An official event T-shirt is available for £12.
Race details
Distances offered:
- Sprint Duathlon - Run 5km, Cycle 20km, Run 2.5km
- Standard Duathlon - Run 10km, Cycle 40km, Run 5km
Both distances can be completed individually or as a relay team. Trail-run events of 5km and 10km are also held at the same event.
Transition area details:
- Secure area for competitors only
- Race number and bike number correspond with racking spot
- Small bags or boxes are permitted inside transition
- Bike number must be attached and helmet visible before entering
- Bib and bike numbers will be checked before exiting
All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. Registration opens 26/09/2025 and closes 29/04/2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
