Derwent Reservoir Duathlons 2026
The Derwent Reservoir Duathlons take place at Derwent Waterside Park in County Durham. The event is based on the south side of the reservoir, a location that sits on the border of Durham and Northumberland. Participants use a combination of tarmac and trail paths for the running sections and quiet open roads for the cycling portions, passing through areas such as Edmundbyers, Blanchland, and Slaley.
The event offers several competition formats:
- Sprint Duathlon: A 5 km run, followed by a 20 km cycle, and finishing with a 2.5 km run.
- Standard Duathlon: A 10 km run, a 40 km cycle, and a final 5 km run.
- Trail Runs: Individual trail running options of 5 km and 10 km.
Both duathlon distances can be completed by individuals or as a relay team. Because the cycling stages take place on open roads, the minimum age for participation is 17. Any type of bicycle is permitted, provided the participant wears a cycling helmet.
A secure transition area is provided for competitors, where racking spots correspond to race and bike numbers. The event uses live chip timing for results. Finishers receive a medal, event merchandise, and a snack and drink. On-site parking is available for a fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
