Event overview
The Derwent Reservoir Duathlons take place on Sunday 3 May 2026 at Derwent Waterside Park, Derwent Reservoir, Edmundbyers, Consett, DH8 9TT. The event will be staged from the south side of the reservoir, which sits on the border of Durham and Northumberland and is owned by Northumbrian Water. Running uses tarmac and trail paths around the waterside. Cycling follows quiet open roads around the reservoir towards Edmundbyers, Blanchland and Slaley. A cycling helmet must be worn. The minimum age is 17. Live chip timing will be provided by Timing Up North.
Race distances and logistics
- Sprint Duathlon - 5 km run, 20 km cycle, 2.5 km run
- Standard Duathlon - 10 km run, 40 km cycle, 5 km run
Both distances may be completed individually or as a relay team. Separate 5 km and 10 km trail runs are also offered. There is a secure transition area for competitors only; race number and bike number correspond with racking spots, small bags or boxes are permitted inside, the bike number must be attached and the helmet visible before entering, and bib and bike numbers will be checked before exiting. All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. An official event T-shirt is available for an additional £12. On-site parking is available at £4 per car.
