Event overview
The Derwent Reservoir Duathlon takes place on Sunday 17 May 2026 at Derwent Waterside Park, Derwent Reservoir, Edmundbyers, Consett, DH8 9TT. The course area is on the south side of the reservoir. Running takes place on tarmac and trail paths around the waterside. Cycling uses quiet open roads around the reservoir toward Edmundbyers, Blanchland and Slaley. Any type of push bike may be used but a cycling helmet must be worn. The minimum age for competitors is 17 because parts of the event use open roads.
Race format and facilities
- Sprint Duathlon: Run 5 km, Cycle 20 km, Run 2.5 km
- Standard Duathlon: Run 10 km, Cycle 40 km, Run 5 km
Both distances can be completed individually or as a relay team. There are also separate 5 km and 10 km trail runs at the same event. A secure transition area is provided for competitors only; race number and bike number correspond with racking spots, small bags are permitted, and bike number must be attached with helmet visible before entering. Live chip timing will be used for results. All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. An official event T-shirt is available for £12.
