Dentdale Run (14 March 2026)

The Dentdale Run is a road race in Dent, in the Yorkshire Dales, held on 14 March 2026. The event is organised to raise funds for Dent Church of England Primary School; the previous event generated £3,500 for the school. The race is run on public roads and has a hilly profile. Spectators are permitted but are asked not to do anything that could endanger runners, volunteers or other road users.

Distances and course

  • 14.2 miles
  • 7.9 miles

The 14.2-mile route leaves Dent village towards Sedbergh, turns back at Rash Bridge, returns along the valley towards Cowgill, then turns back at Ewegales to finish in the centre of Dent. The 7.9-mile route follows the first half of that course before turning back into the village for a centre-of-village finish. Distance markers include 10 km and half-marathon points for runners who wish to record intermediate times. Some runners use the race as a warm-up for the London Marathon.

Facilities, timing and entry

Race headquarters is at Dent Church of England Primary School. Both races are chip timed and results are displayed on a large screen inside the school after finishing. Facilities listed by the organiser include water stations, distance markers, toilets, changing facilities, showers and a baggage store. Numbers are collected on the day and free car parking is available in the village. Entry fees listed are £21 (affiliated) and £23 (unaffiliated) for each distance; on-the-day entry may be available for an additional £2 if the event does not sell out.
