The Dentdale Run 2026

The Dentdale Run takes place in Dent in the Yorkshire Dales on Saturday 14 March 2026. The event is organised to raise funds for Dent Church of England Primary School, with previous editions generating funds for the school.

The race is a scenic road event that follows public roads through the dale. The course profiles are hilly and are used by many runners as final training for the London Marathon. Markers indicate 10 km and half marathon points for those recording intermediate times.

There are two race distances:

  • 14.2 miles
  • 7.9 miles

The 14.2 mile route heads out from Dent towards Sedbergh, turns back at Rash Bridge, returns towards Dent and runs along the valley towards Cowgill before turning back at Ewegales to finish in the centre of the village. The 7.9 mile route follows the first half of the same course before returning to finish in the village centre.

Race headquarters is at Dent C of E Primary School. Facilities listed for the event include water stations, distance markers, toilets, changing rooms, showers and a baggage store. Both races are chip timed with results shown on a large screen inside the school after finishing. Numbers are collected on the day. Entry is managed via RaceBest. The entry limit is 300 and a race licence has been applied for. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Parking is provided in the village and marshals manage vehicle placement. Spectators are welcome and asked to take care to avoid endangering runners, volunteers or other road users. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
