Event Overview
The Dentdale Run takes place in Dent, located within the Yorkshire Dales. This road race event features two distinct distances that follow hilly routes through the local countryside. The event serves as a fundraiser for the village primary school, with all profits supporting education for local children. Due to the terrain, the courses are not suitable for wheelchairs.
Distances and Course Details
Participants select from two single-loop distances:
- 14.2 miles
- 7.9 miles
The routes are paved and include distance markers at the 10km and half marathon points for those tracking specific split times. The 14.2 mile distance is frequently used by runners as a preparation event for the London Marathon. The entry limit for the event is set at 300 participants.
Facilities and Results
The race headquarters is situated at Dent C of E Primary School. On-site facilities include toilets, changing rooms, showers, and baggage storage. Water stations are provided along the course. Timing is conducted via electronic chips, and results are displayed on a screen at the school immediately following the race.
Logistics and Post-Race
Free parking is available within the village for all participants. Race numbers are collected on the day of the event. All finishers receive sandwiches, cakes, and a hot drink such as tea or coffee. Trophies and prizes are awarded based on England Athletics age categories for both distance options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
